· games

Games are a great way to generate interest and increase user loyality.

Many companies have achieved success by making their games topical, choosing a game that can use a product, a logo or a brand as the main topic within the game. To this end, we have created a variety of games engines and libraries in Flash that allow us to quickly and efficiently brand and personalise games to be tuned to the needs of different clients.

We have also found that contests, along with great interactive content, can be a very successful way to keep people coming back.

With each game Happyworm offers an integrated server-side 'hi score' solution. By keeping a global 'hi-score' system, greater competition is encouraged, increasing the motivation to both recommend and return to the game.
  · small devices

As an increasing variety of mobile devices arrive on the market, light-weight cross-platform games are becoming more and more popular. The Flash plugin is currently being built into the latest micro-browsers providing Happyworm and its clients a route into the mobile market.

· viral solutions

Viral Marketing has been around in some shape or form for years. It is essentially nothing more than 'word of mouth', but while the negative effects of the viral approach such as email viruses and worms are common place, using Viral Marketing in conjunction with the internet can yield very positive results.

The key is to incorporate in a website something that people will enjoy or find useful and feel motivated to share with their friends and colleagues.

We believe Viral Marketing's reasonable cost and potentially massive audience, make it a very attractive strategy.
  · technologies

Although Happyworm specialise in Flash we are currently experimenting with other technologies such as Shockwave, Java and SVG (Scalable Vector Graphics).

Client:  Bank of Scotland - Halifax

flash 5 game - Bank of Scotalnd Halifax
  The Brief:
To create a game in Flash 5 for the Intranet - Pod. The purpose was two-fold; primarily to encourage users to check and/or upgrade their Flash 5 plugin as this was to be utilised by e-learning at a later stage; secondly and more importantly to provide some light entertainment at Christmas.
  The Project:
Happyworm tailored the game to complement the intranet's branding at the time. Server-side Java in the form of servlets to create a secure global hi-score system allowing a prize to be awarded for the highest score.

The project was very successful with nearly 700 people entering their details on the 'hi-score' table, impressive results considering no promotion was used. Accessed via a hidden link, the game was promoted through word-of-mouth.
